Oncord vs Duda vs Webflow vs WordPress: Which Has the Best Built-In AI in 2026?

Oncord vs Duda vs Webflow vs WordPress: Which Has the Best Built-In AI in 2026?

The short answer

If you want AI that helps run your whole business, not just write your web pages, Oncord is the strongest of the four, and its AI is free to use with no credits or top-ups. Duda and Webflow both have capable AI, but their main AI building and content tools draw from a monthly credit allowance. WordPress offers two different AI experiences. WordPress.com now includes its own AI agent on paid plans, while self-hosted WordPress gives you the plumbing to connect AI, then relies on plugins and your own AI provider accounts that you manage yourself.

Oncord vs Duda vs Webflow vs WordPress AI at a glance

Fuel has been building websites in Auckland since 2002, and we build on Oncord, Duda and Webflow today. We have no reason to bad-mouth any of them. This is our honest take on where each one's AI stands in late 2026, with links to each platform's own documentation so you can check for yourself.

Oncord: AI built into the whole business, at no extra cost

Oncord is an all-in-one platform from Australia: website, CRM, email marketing, ecommerce, forms and reporting in one login. That matters for AI, because the Oncord Agent can see across all of it. (Fuel is Oncord's only New Zealand Elite partner agency,  and we use it every day.)

What the Oncord Agent can do, according to Oncord's own documentation:

  • Answer business questions in plain English. Ask for your top-selling products, recent form submissions, contacts or page traffic, and get an answer without digging through reports.
  • Write and edit content where you're working. Draft a paragraph, rewrite text to be shorter, clearer or more formal, translate it or proofread it, all inside the page or email editor. Every change can be undone in one click.
  • Point and ask. Select any element on screen and ask the Agent to change it or explain it.
  • Recreate a page from a link. Give it a URL and it rebuilds the page in Oncord blocks as a starting point.
  • Work through your files. Attach PDFs, screenshots, photos, text or CSV files and ask it to pull out details or process a list.
  • Handle repetitive admin. Bulk updates to products or contacts and imports, with a clear preview of what will change before anything happens.
  • Generate SEO metadata for pages and products, and help generate a site design.

The part we like most is the control. As Oncord puts it in Introducing the Oncord Agent, before the Agent deletes, merges or changes a batch of records, it shows you exactly what will be affected and waits for your yes or no.

And it costs nothing extra. We confirmed directly with Oncord's owners that its AI is included free for clients, with no AI credits to buy or run out of. For a small business, that means your team can use it every day without watching a meter.

What does this look like for a real business?

Say you run an online store and want to know what sold best last month. You open the Oncord Agent and ask. It pulls the answer from your own orders, not a separate analytics tool. Then, in the same conversation, you ask it to tighten the product descriptions for your top three sellers and draft a newsletter featuring them. It shows you each change before it is made, you approve or tweak, and the newsletter is ready to send from the same platform.

No exporting, no copying between tools, and no credits used along the way. That's the advantage of AI connected to your whole business, not just your website editor.

Duda: strong AI for building sites, metered by credits

Duda is a professional website builder used by agencies worldwide. Its AI tools are genuinely good for building and editing websites:

  • Duda Copilot, a conversational assistant that can create pages, update collections, generate custom widgets and redesign sections from the dashboard and editor.
  • AI text assistance, blog post generation, site generation from a prompt and AI-filled templates.

The catch is cost. Duda's documentation states that Copilot actions use AI credits, with bigger tasks such as generating a full page using more credits than a small text edit. Paid accounts get a monthly allowance, and you buy top-ups once it runs out. Not every Duda AI tool is metered. Duda's list of credit-using features covers Copilot, site generation and template filling (after a set number of free uses), the Widget Builder and Vibe. AI features triggered through the API or MCP also use credits.

One thing to know if an agency builds your Duda site: Copilot isn't yet available to client logins (see who can use the AI after launch below).

Best for: businesses that want a polished, fast website and mainly use AI to build and update pages.

Webflow: powerful AI for design teams, also on credits

Webflow is a favourite of designers, and its AI reflects that. Webflow AI includes an AI site builder, an AI Assistant that can design and generate sections, copy generation, CMS content generation, SEO, AEO and accessibility audits, schema markup, and even full-stack web apps from prompts.

Some Webflow AI features run on credits. Generating copy, CMS items and code components, SEO and AEO improvements, and AEO agents use them. Contextual help, building a site and designing sections don't. Self-serve Workspace plans include 200 to 400 AI credits a month depending on the plan, and more cost extra. AI can also be turned on or off at Workspace level. (We compared the two platforms more broadly in Oncord vs Webflow CMS.)

Webflow also has its own analytics, Webflow Analyze, as a paid add-on. On Team and Enterprise plans it can show how AI tools mention your brand. What Webflow doesn't have built in is a CRM and email marketing, so it can't answer questions across your contacts, enquiries and campaigns in one place the way Oncord can.

Best for: design-led teams and marketers who want maximum creative control and are comfortable with a more technical tool.

WordPress: built in on WordPress.com, assembled yourself on self-hosted

WordPress powers a huge share of the web, and there are really two versions to compare.

WordPress.com (the hosted service) now has a built-in WordPress Agent on every paid plan. It works inside the editor and Media Library, and can edit text, refine layouts and generate images. It is opt-in, and works best with block themes.

Self-hosted WordPress, which is what most business sites run on, added an AI Client to core in version 7.0. It's a central place to connect AI providers rather than an assistant, so the features themselves still come from plugins:

  • Jetpack AI offers 20 free requests, then a paid plan for higher (fair-use limited) capacity. It can also connect ChatGPT or Claude to your site (more on that below).
  • The WordPress AI plugin is free, but you connect your own AI provider and that provider bills you for every request.
  • Dozens of other AI plugins exist, each with its own pricing, quality and update schedule.

That flexibility suits developers. For a business owner running self-hosted WordPress, it means more plugins to maintain, more accounts to pay for, and more places for things to break or need security updates. If that sounds familiar, our guide Is it time to move off WordPress? walks through the options.

Best for: businesses with a developer on hand who want to choose and manage every piece themselves.

Can your staff actually use the AI after your website goes live?

This is the question most comparisons skip. Many AI features are built for the agency or designer working on the site, not the business that owns it. Here is what each platform's documentation says about who can use the AI after handover.

PlatformWho can use the built-in AI after launch
OncordEvery administrator can use the AI Agent from the dashboard. There is no limit on administrators, adding them doesn't change your plan, and administrator roles control which parts of Oncord each person can access.
DudaDuda Copilot is currently only available to account owners and staff with editing permission. Client access is planned but not yet available. Clients can use the simpler AI text assistant only with the AI Assistant permission on Duda's Custom plan.
WebflowDepends on seat and role. Webflow says members with a full or limited Workspace seat can use credit-based AI features. Client seats, which agencies use to give clients editing access, aren't listed, so check before relying on them.
WordPressWordPress.com: the WordPress Agent is available on paid plans once switched on. Self-hosted: depends on the plugins installed and how user roles are set up.

For a business that wants its own team using AI every day, without going back to the agency for each change, this matters as much as the features themselves.

Connecting your own AI: MCP explained

There is a second way to use AI with your website. Instead of the platform's built-in assistant, you connect an AI tool you already pay for, such as ChatGPT or Claude, and let it work on your site. The standard that makes this possible is called MCP (Model Context Protocol). All four platforms now support it, but in quite different ways.

Oncord: Session MCP

Oncord does not run a permanent server that an AI can reach at any time. Instead, you open the AI Agent panel in your Oncord dashboard, click MCP, and paste the connection instructions into a desktop AI agent such as Claude Code or ChatGPT Codex. The agent then works through your open, signed-in browser tab, with the same access you have. When you close the tab, the connection ends. There is no plugin to install and no server to configure, and any approvals still appear in your Oncord panel. The trade-off is that you need a desktop agent that can send web requests, not just a chat window, and access to that tool, which is usually a paid plan. Oncord doesn't charge for it. It is also worth knowing that information the agent reads is passed to whichever AI service you connect. (Oncord Session MCP docs)

Duda: MCP server

Duda offers an MCP server that works with Claude and the OpenAI API. It is available to account owners and admins on the Agency plan and above, with some actions limited to the Custom plan. Duda notes that AI features triggered through MCP still consume Duda AI credits. It can also make permanent changes to live sites, so Duda advises using it carefully.

Webflow: MCP server

Webflow's MCP server is available on all site plans, including the free Starter plan, and connects through a one-time sign-in. Webflow says it does not use Webflow AI credits; usage counts against your AI tool's plan instead, except for content generated for Campaigns. A small companion app is only needed for a few live Designer features.

WordPress: via WordPress.com or Jetpack

WordPress.com includes MCP connections to ChatGPT, Claude and other AI tools on paid plans. Free plans are supported until the end of November 2026. Self-hosted WordPress sites connect through the Jetpack plugin. Jetpack's settings guide says MCP access works on any Jetpack plan, including Free, but Jetpack's pricing page lists it as a feature of the paid Jetpack AI plan, so check current terms before relying on it. Your AI tool may also need a paid plan to use connectors like this.

What this means for you

If you already use ChatGPT or Claude heavily, all four can work with it. Webflow's is the most open. Oncord's is the most contained: the AI only ever acts inside a session you have open, with your permissions, and stops when you close the tab. And you don't need MCP at all to get value from Oncord, because its built-in Agent already does most of this for free.

Which platform should you choose?

  • You want one platform to run your website, contacts, email marketing and online shop, with AI that helps across all of it at no extra cost: Oncord.
  • You mainly need a great-looking site and occasional AI help building pages: Duda is a solid choice.
  • You have a design team that wants pixel-level control: Webflow.
  • You have a developer and want to hand-pick every tool: WordPress.

For most New Zealand small and medium businesses we work with, the deciding question is simple: do you want AI that helps with your website, or AI that helps with your business? That is where Oncord pulls ahead.

Want a website that does more with AI?

AI can make running your website a lot easier, but the right platform depends on your business, your team and how much you actually want AI to do.

We build on Oncord, Duda and Webflow, so we'll recommend what fits rather than what we happen to sell. In a free website and AI consultation, we'll look at your current site, what you'd like AI to help with, and whether upgrading or moving platforms makes commercial sense.
